We are proud to host Offshoot, a collective of independent artists based in Calabarzon, Phillipines. Offshoot aims to foster collaborative projects spanning different mediums including video, GIF, installations, photography and sound. The group emerged as a response to the needs of finding one’s community – in times when physical distancing and isolation brought by the pandemic have pushed us to rethink ways of art-making that is bound by our sense of belonging and connections. It also endeavours to produce works that investigate different forms of historical negationism that permeate our culture and shape our current collective and political imagination. Tumbuktikus presents : ‘Fragments – a study’ by Offshoot!

Kami memperkenalkan Offshoot, sebuah kolektif yang berpangkalan di Calabarzon, Filipina. Offshoot berhasrat untuk memupuk projek-projek kolaboratif merentas medium yang berbeza termasuk video, GIF, seni pemasangan, fotografi dan bunyi. Kumpulan seniman ini muncul sebagai suatu tindakbalas kepada keperluan mencari sebuah komuniti – pada ketika penjarakan fizikal dan isolasi pasca pandemik memaksa kita memikirkan semula hal pencitraan seni yang terikat kepada rasa kepunyaan dan perhubungan. Ia juga menuntut penghasilan karya yang meneroka bentuk-bentuk negasionisme sejarah yang menyerap masuk ke dalam budaya dan membentuk imaginasi kolektif dan politik semasa.
