Kapallorek is an independent art space formed in 2014. Founded by Fadly Sabran and based in Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia. It operates as a non-profit organization that serves alternative platform for Emerging New Media Artist, Inter-Disciplinary Arts, Experimental Artists, Residency Artist & Art Researcher. This is done by having exhibition, workshop, performances art, dialogue & sharing sessions regarding their creative practice with the local communities. Kapallorek also strive to have collaborative exchange with regional and international art practitioners and arts spaces.

Kapallorek adalah ruang seni bebas yang dibentuk pada tahun 2014. Diasaskan oleh Fadly Sabran dan berpusat di Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia. Ia beroperasi sebagai organisasi yang menyediakan platform alternatif untuk Artis Media Baharu, Seni Antara Disiplin, Artis Eksperimen, Residensi Artis & Penyelidik Seni. Ini dilakukan dengan mengadakan pameran, bengkel, seni persembahan, sesi dialog & perkongsian mengenai amalan kreatif mereka dengan komuniti setempat. Kapallorek juga selalu mengadakan pertukaran projek seni kolaboratif dengan pengamal seni dan ruang seni serantau dan antarabangsa.

 

FOUNDER

Fadly Sabran (b. 1983) is a Perak-based new media artist. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Visual Art and Design at University Sains Malaysia, Penang and currently a lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Art and Design, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Perak. He founded the independent art space, Kapallorek in 2014 that is based in Seri Iskandar, Perak, where he actively curates and organizes experimental and new media art activities while also collaborating with regional and international artists to promote art within the local community. He regularly participates in both local and international exhibitions such as in National Art Gallery dan Petronas Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2020); National For The Culture and the Arts NCCA Gallery, Manila Philippines (2019); 33rd Image Forum Festival, Asian Experimental Cinema, Tokyo Japan (2019); 18th Asian Art Biennale, National Art Gallery Dhaka, Bangladesh (2018), The Korean Society of Media & Arts (KOSMA), Asia Cultural Center, Gwangju South Korean (2016), ‘Cheritera’, presented by Galeri Chandan at Start Art Fair, Saatchi Gallery, London (2012), and many more.
