Cemor Sui, a phrase rooted in local dialect, carries the layered meanings of cerita dongeng (folktales) and cerita hidup(life stories), offering a nuanced reflection on the oral storytelling traditions that have long shaped the moral fabric of Malaysian society. This exhibition presents a curated selection of drawings by students from Year 4 to Year 6 of SK Suak Padi, Bota, Perak, who reimagine traditional folktales through their own youthful perspectives.

In an age where digital media often overshadows oral tradition, Cemor Sui repositions the value of narrative heritage by placing children not only as learners butas narrators and interpreters. The visual responses in this exhibition demonstrate how storytelling remains a powerful educational tool—conveying lessons of kindness, courage, humility, and justice that are as relevant today as they were in the past.

By showcasing these folktales through drawing, the exhibition highlights the intersection of imagination, cultural memory, and moral instruction. Each workreflects a unique engagement with characters and events drawn from local myths and legends, interpreted with sincerity and spontaneity by the young artists. In doing so, Cemor Sui becomes more than an exhibition; it is a communal act of preservation, interpretation, and intergenerational dialogue.

Through this initiative, we are reminded that folktales are not relics of the past, but living narratives that evolve, inspire, and guide. Cemor Sui invites viewers to revisit these tales with fresh eyes and to consider how the values they embody can continue to shape future generations to be morally generations and more mannered.
