\u2018ANTARA\u2019 is an exhibition that focuses on artworks that is outside the conventional and traditional form artworks, in terms of execution, medium and experimental values. The overall curatorial concept of the exhibition is borrowing from the \u2018Grey Area\u2019 definition in which the grey area is defined \u201cas an area that an ill-defined situation or area of activity not readily conforming to a category or set of rules.\u201d We often hear the term \u2018Black or White\u2019 as a saying that is often used to discuss the absolute or the fact and truth of something. There could only be two sides, wrong or right, and usually that would be the case, but we forget that there is also the middle- grey. In terminology, grey is often described to be a dull color that conveys the meaning of uninteresting and mundane, yet usually in life, at the places we think is ordinary is where it is the peak of its interest. Is. In a sense, \u2018ANTARA\u2019 is confronting issues and artworks that exists but defies the traditional aesthetic of art which is visually pleasing to the eye, but still captures the beauty and essence of what Art truly is.<\/p>\n

\u2018ANTARA\u2019 is an initiative to give exposure on unconventional artworks in Malaysia as an attempt to also push forward the art scene into a brighter future where artworks are not rigid and restricted. As such, the new generation of artists are coming up with newer and advance thinking in the art perspective and therefore, this is exhibition allows the freedom of creativity to be explored in such manner that will not restrict them. In conjunction to that, our art and culture practices have differed over the past decades, and such has led to ground-breaking movement in our art industry. As such, even though the mediums may change, our cultural values and pride remain the same. We still uphold Malaysia as a country that is rich in diversity and for that we should embrace all mediums and forms of artwork. \u2018ANTARA\u2019 visions the art and culture that meets in between traditional and contemporize artworks and elevates art in a new light and perspective. Hasnul Jamal Saidon has also once said that the potential of \u2018in between\u2019 is wide, when two things can be uncovering or meet-halfway, the result of the two would be intriguing and amusing as it is completely raw.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the late Redza Piyadasa who regard an investigation of Art as a language rather than art as an aesthetic, \u2018ANTARA\u2019 also implores the idea and concepts of an alternative aesthetic and induces the breakdown of art barriers that the Malaysia art scene unconsciously put up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
