BACKGROUND<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kapallorek is an independent art space established in 2014 by Fadly Sabran and located in Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia. It serves as an alternative platform for emerging and established artists, curators and art researchers to explore new ideas and experiment with creative practices. Through a diverse range of programmes such as exhibitions, residencies, workshops, performance art and knowledge sharing sessions, Kapallorek actively engages the local community and nurtures a deeper appreciation of the arts. The space is also committed to cultivating collaborative exchanges with both local and international artists and art institutions, fostering meaningful dialogue and contributing to the growth and development of contemporary art within and beyond Malaysia.<\/p>\n

Kapallorek ialah sebuah ruang seni bebas yang ditubuhkan pada tahun 2014 oleh Fadly Sabran dan berlokasi di Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia. Kapallorek berfungsi sebagai platform alternatif untuk para seniman, kurator dan penyelidik seni, sama ada yang sedang berkembang atau telah berpengalaman, bagi meneroka idea baharu dan bereksperimen dengan pelbagai praktik kreatif. Melalui pelbagai program seperti pameran, residensi, bengkel, seni persembahan dan sesi perkongsian, Kapallorek secara aktif mendekatkan komuniti setempat dengan dunia seni. Ruang ini juga komited menjalin kerjasama dengan seniman serta ruang seni dari dalam dan luar negara, sekali gus memperkukuh dialog serta memacu perkembangan seni kontemporari di Malaysia dan peringkat antarabangsa.<\/p>\n

FOUNDER & DIRECTOR<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fadly Sabran (b. 1983) is a Malaysian media artist, curator, and educator whose practice critically engages with moving image culture and experimental media. Based in Perak, he works across video, sound, installation, and experimental film to explore themes of memory, cultural identity, and the evolving relationship between technology and society. He is the founder of Kapallorek Art Space (est. 2014), an independent platform dedicated to experimental art and new media practices in Malaysia. Through exhibitions, screenings, residencies, and cross-border collaborations, the space functions as a critical platform that connects artists, curators, and researchers across regional and international contexts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fadly\u2019s works have been presented internationally at venues and events including the 59th Venice Biennale Collateral Event (Italy), Shinano Primitive Sense Art Festival (Japan), Moving on Asia (South Korea), Istanbul International Experimental Film Festival (Turkey), Asian Art Biennale (Dhaka), and Image Forum Festival (Tokyo), among others. Alongside his artistic practice, he actively contributes to the development of moving image and media art discourse in Malaysia through curatorial practice, research, and education.<\/p>\n
